About & contact

One location, one editor, one address

Skaltorix covers a single venue in depth rather than a hundred venues thinly. This page explains who writes it, how it is researched, and what to expect if you write in.

Who publishes this

Skaltorix is written and maintained by Tomás Henriques, working from Portugal. It began as a set of research notes about one place — the Woodbine grounds on Rexdale Boulevard in Toronto — and turned into a small reference site because the useful information about the venue is scattered across archives, press releases and transit timetables that nobody reads together.

Being based in Europe rather than in Toronto is worth stating plainly, because it shapes what this site is good for. It is strong on documented history, published season information, the layout of the buildings and the transit options on paper. It is not a source of local gossip, current queue lengths, or this week's conditions. Where local, on-the-day knowledge matters, the text says to check with the venue.

How the pages are researched

  • Season dates, race dates and room information come from the venue's own published material for the current season, and are dated on the page.
  • Historical facts come from public records and archival photograph collections, with the licence for each image credited beside it.
  • Transit details come from the operators' own route information rather than from aggregators.
  • Nothing is filled in by inference. Where a figure could not be confirmed, the page describes the situation in general terms instead of inventing a number.

Write to us

There is one address for everything: [email protected]. No form, no ticketing system, nothing that asks for more data than an email already contains.

Corrections, gladly

A wrong date, a room that has closed, a route that has changed, a photograph credited incorrectly. Corrections are made without argument and the page's revision date is updated.

Privacy requests

Access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of cookie consent — see the privacy policy for the detail. Same address, answered within a month.

Copyright and image rights

If you hold rights in a photograph used here, see the notice procedure in the legal notice. Complete notices are handled in 24 to 48 hours.

Suggestions for coverage

Something about the grounds that deserves a section and does not have one yet. Local knowledge from readers who go regularly is genuinely useful.

What this site cannot do

To save everyone time: Skaltorix cannot book a table, reserve a room, sell or check admission, confirm today's post times, arrange accessible parking, forward a message to the venue, or answer questions about anything on the property that this site does not cover. For all of that, the venue's own channels at woodbine.com are the right destination — we have no relationship with them and no ability to act on their behalf.

Independence and money

This site takes no commission, holds no affiliate arrangements with any business named on it, and publishes no sponsored content. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page where it applies, not buried here. Where advertising appears, it is served by an advertising network subject to your cookie choice and has no influence on what the pages say.

Postal contact

As a personal project run by an individual, no street address is published here. Under the GDPR the publisher is identifiable and reachable by name, country and a working email address, which is what this page and the legal notice provide. If a matter genuinely requires postal correspondence, ask by email and it will be arranged.
