Cookie policy

What is stored on your device by this site, what the banner actually does, and how to undo any of it. Read together with the privacy policy.

The short version

Nothing that requires consent is loaded before you give it. On a first visit, the only thing this site writes to your device is the record of the choice you make in the banner — which is what lets us stop asking you on every page. If you choose Essential only, no analytics or advertising technology is loaded at all.

What counts as a cookie here

"Cookie" in this policy also covers the equivalent techniques a browser offers: local storage, session storage and similar identifiers. The consent record on this site is kept in local storage rather than a classic cookie; the legal treatment is the same, so it is described here rather than hidden.

The three categories

Category What it does Consent Typical lifetime
Essential Remembers your consent choice and supports basic security and delivery of pages. Without it the banner would reappear on every page view. Not required Until you clear site data
Analytics Counts visits and page views in aggregate so we can see which pages are actually read and which are not worth maintaining. Required Up to about two years, set by the provider
Advertising Used by advertising networks, including Google, to deliver and measure ads where they appear on the site. Required Set by the network, commonly months rather than days

How the banner behaves

  • Accept all — analytics and advertising technologies may load.
  • Essential only — treated as a refusal. Nothing beyond the essential category loads.
  • Dismissing the banner with the Escape key is treated the same way as Essential only. Silence is never read as agreement, and continuing to scroll is not consent.
  • Both buttons carry the same visual weight. Refusing takes exactly one click, like accepting.

Changing your mind

Clear the site data for skaltorix.com in your browser and reload the page: the record of your previous decision goes with it and the banner asks again. Every current browser exposes this under privacy settings, usually as "cookies and site data" for a single site. You can also block or delete cookies globally:

  • Chrome — Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and Site data.
  • Safari — Settings or Preferences, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
  • Firefox — Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
  • Edge — Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
  • Mobile browsers — the same options appear under the browser's own settings, not the device settings.

Blocking essential storage will not break the content of this site; the banner will simply ask again each time, because it has nowhere to record your answer.

What this site does not do

  • No tracking pixels or scripts that load before consent.
  • No cookie walls: refusing does not restrict any content.
  • No fingerprinting used as a substitute for cookies.
  • No cross-site profile of you is built or bought by this site.

Questions about a specific cookie
